Tutorial 05 - Making Washi Tape

Hi scrappers

I am gonna start having some tutorials for you each month. Those that wanna show what they can do with the tutorial can place a link in this blog post. At the end of the month we are gonna pick a winner for a $5 coupon to my store.

This month we are gonna be working on making Washi tape. I just love that, and it is an easy way to make some fun on your pages.

I am using photoshop elements 6

First off open a new document, I made mine 350 px x 1350 px. Then I made it a png by double clicking on the Background layer – making it layer 0

So far so good, now you need to find your Lasso tool

With the lasso tool you need to make some spikes on the top and bottom of you tape. Start outside your paper – I have made my canvas a little bigger just to show you what to do. When the ends meet, press Delete. Repeat at the bottom
Remember that it does not need to be perfect, torn tape rarely is :)

Like this

Now we need to lower the opacity to about 65-75%

Add any kind of patterned paper or solid color and group it together (Ctrl+G) And if you are happy with what you got then press Ctrl+E to merge it together
